Dokuga Awards 3rd Quarter 2009 begin tonight at midnight!!!

RULES

There are a few rules of eligibility you MUST follow:

- Fics that are nominated must have been posted or updated between July 1st and September 30th 2009.
If the work was posted at several different locations, the earliest date and time stamp will be taken and checked against the quarter's period of eligibility. Stamps posted within reviews can be used to date a work and/or its chapters. Also, authors and artists can be contacted to verify timeframes.

- You cannot nominate yourself. Doing so will result in the nomination not being accepted and a warning from the awards moderator aka me.

- Nominations are done blindly which means that only I will be able to see the fics that are nominated and by whom. Once nominations are complete I'll post the list of accepted nominations so you can read and enjoy them before voting. There were some concerns about the possibility of fixing nominations since they are blind. Please keep in mind that there are two parties at all time who are aware of what is being nominated. Myself, and the one who nominated the fic. Each nomination rejected will receive PM from me. You will be able to see on your awards page the nominations in the categories that were accepted. If you believe I have falsely excused a fic from nomination, you need to contact me. This is how accountability is held.

- The work must be exclusively about the characters and/or the relationship between the characters of Sesshoumaru and Kagome from the Inuyasha fandom.

- You are only allowed to nominate one fic per category.

- Each fic is allowed to be nominated into maximum four different categories. I will take them on a first come first serve basis meaning that once a single fic is nominated into four different categories, each subsequent nomination will be rejected.

- The work must be in compliance with the definition of the category into which it was nominated.

When a piece of work is rejected, I will let the nominator know why. However, a list of rejected fics will not be disclosed.

CATEGORY DEFINITIONS

Best Romance
"ardent emotional attachment or involvement between people; love"

Stories that have developed a believable romance between Sesshoumaru and Kagome. 'Believable' is subjective, and it is up the those nominating/voting to draw their own line on that quantifier and vote their "Best."


Best Action/Adventure
Action: "actual engagement in fighting an enemy; military or naval combat"
Adventure: "participation in exciting undertakings or enterprises"

Does it make you sit on the edge of your seat? Do the characters battle adversity on a daily basis? Have the characters embarked on an epic quest?


Best Drama
"any situation or series of events having vivid, emotional, conflicting, or striking interest or results"

Stories that delve into the lives of the characters and take the readers with them on a journey through the gambit of emotive expression.


Best Canon
"the works of an author that have been accepted as authentic."

This category is probably the most contested in any award group for all fandoms. For this award group, I am going to put a simple disclaimer: If the story is set in Takahashi's universe (Modern Japan or Feudal Japan) and keeps the character origins, events, and motivations for character development that she created, then it is canon.


Best Alternate Universe/Alternate Reality
"facts of setting or characterization in the canon universe being explored or written about are deliberately changed"

For this category anything that walks outside Takahashi's vision. Anything that moves the characters outside of Takahashi's setting of Feudal Era Japan or Modern day Japan is AU/AR. Anything that moves Kagome forward or backward in time is AU/AR. Anything that changes the main characters beyond the basic core attributes Takahashi granted them is AU/AR.


Best Character Portrayal: Sesshoumaru
Did the author create an in-depth characterization of Sesshoumaru that, while it may diverge from Takahashi's vision for him, managed to attract the reader?


Best Character Portrayal: Kagome
Did the author create an in-depth characterization of Kagome that, while it may diverge from Takahashi's vision for him, managed to attract the reader?


Best Darkfic/Horror
"an overwhelming and painful feeling caused by something frightfully shocking, terrifying, or revolting; a shuddering fear"

Darkfic: (my own definition) Anything that brings the reader into a world of pain and suffering through abuse of the characters at the hands of the antagonist or internal strife.

If it includes graphic rape, murder, abuse (mental or emotional), a character that is suicidal or possessed of depressing thoughts/outlook on life that colors the majority of the story in glum tones it can be considered a dark!fic. If the story is aimed to frighten or 'gross out' the reader is can be considered horror.


Best Humor/Parody
Did it make you laugh? Did it deliberately spoof the anime/manga?


Best LemonFic
This is for chaptered stories ONLY. The best of both worlds. Sexual content and a plot. Unrelated oneshot collections are not allowed in this category.


Best Oneshot
For the purpose of this award, a oneshot is anything over 500 words. Remember, this is a Sesshoumaru/Kagome award group. Using another character's perspective is acceptable as long is the focus is on Sesshoumaru/Kagome or either characters separately.

Songfics that are a single chapter are allowed in this category.

Also, some sites cannot fit an entire oneshot within one chapter. If the author states that the story is a oneshot but it is spread throughout more than one chapter and the posting date is the same for all chapters then it is also allowable.


Best Drabble
Anything under 500 words. Remember, this is a Sesshoumaru/Kagome award group. Using another character's perspective is acceptable as long is the focus is on Sesshoumaru/Kagome or either characters separately.


Best LemonScene
A sexual scene from any story, oneshot, or drabble. (Include the chapter where the scene appears.)


Best Sesshoumaru Fanart
Any art that Features Sesshoumaru be it a comic, dojinshi, painting, drawing, sketch, etc. Romantic pairing with anyone other than Kagome submissions not allowed. Group or platonic depictions with other characters are allowed.


Best Kagome Fanart
Any art that Features Kagome be it a comic, dojinshi, painting, drawing, sketch, etc... Romantic pairing with anyone other than Sesshoumaru submissions not allowed. Group or platonic depictions with other characters are allowed.


Best Sesshoumaru/Kagome Fanart
Any art that features both Sesshoumaru and Kagome be it a comic, dojinshi, painting, drawing, sketch, etc... If other characters are included in the picture it is only allowed as a background. The focus MUST be on the pairing.



NOMINATIONS BEGIN SUNDAY OCTOBER 5TH AT MIDNIGHT
They will run for four weeks. Get Ready!!

NOTE: A nomination of prohibited work will be rejected. With respect to the First Place Winner Bans, stories cannot be renominated into the categories where they won the First Place award; however, they can be nominated into other, eligible categories. First Place Winner Bans are effected for three consecutive quarters.


The works of the moderators Priestess Skye and Miss_Kagura are not allowed to be nominated to ensure the sanctity and objectivity of moderating the Dokuga Awards.

I was just going through and voting(YAY!!!) and the link to Rikayu-chan's work "In the Dark" isn't working. It takes you to the DeviantArt page, and the site says that the picture cannot be found.

If you upload it to photobucket, at the bottom is an IMG code. you need to copy that code somewhere into your profile.
