Well that was a heck of a wake up call. I know it's all politics in demon society, but Sesshoumaru did it for revenge, not justice and I think it will take Kagome some time to get over that and Sesshoumaru some time to see that.
Such a good story. Can't wait to see what happens next.
Oh my, I've missed some really great chapters. I'm sorry but fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue has hit me terribly hard and I've missed reading my fics so much. I've been awake for a few hours and have just been reading and reviewing.
This fic is just so awesome! I love the suspense and intigue and the flow? is nothing short of perfect. I can't help but side with Sesshoumaru when Kagome was poisoned it was only the worst thing that could happen in his mind. His feelings of neglecting her protection is just something that is born deep within him. So much is hanging on Sesshoumaru as being a Lord, a King of his land. He was born for this reason, trained, taught all the things he was, just to one day become the next ruler of the Western Lands. He was so young when he was forced into the position. He had always been closed off, most used the word stoic, he had to be cold and indifferent, you can't let anyone know what you are feeling or thinking alas you may lose respect, admiration, and the fear of those below your station in ruling.
Here comes this mortal, human woman and a miko no less, walking into his life as his brother's intended and she wants to become a Hime so she can assure her friend, "intended" stays safe and respected in his own youkai society. They agree to this plan of action never realising that Kagome, that damn human miko would be able to turn Sesshoumaru's life upside down. He's been with many female youkai before but for some reason this human has unwantingly gotten under his skin, inside his closed heart and has drawn out feelings of love out of him. He tried to not allow it and she wasn't trying to, but the fates/gods had other plans and through the midst of finding a new candidate for the Hime tradition love was born between these two unseeming people.
With Sesshoumaru's new found emotions came all the things he believed were to be true and impotant. Love her and her only, Protect her always, keep her safe from any all harm. Failure is not an option and when he felt he failed to save Kagome, the first and only female that created these emotions in him, the only answered to this would anger. Such anger that only one in his position could understand.
I have to side with his actions to kill Kura. I know the method was harsh but she had commited so many devastating evil thing, including murder and attempted muder because she told Sesshoumaru if he destroyed the Black magic temple Kagome would live and it didn't happen. Again he failed Kagome in his mind and the scholars have said as much that if she didn't wake, she may never wake again. This youkai ruler's heart has ben thrown into such a tailspin and he has tried to believe she'd make it but days a by and nothing 's happened. The hurt and anger builds not just for Kura, but himself too for not protecting her better.
Sesshoumaru only did what he did because everything he was told had pointed to his beloved's death. He had to do something so no one would ever think to do this again. He told Kagome he would kill her and he also told the same to Ryou, but the her death luming so closely, he didn't even have courage to hold himself together to see her until Kura was put on trial and killed in the most worse way for a youkai.
I'm wondering if after Kura death, that was the final piece that could release Kagome's curse. Though she still had not awoken, Sesshoumaru had said her coloring had changed to normal and her lips were no longer blue but she was still in a coma. When the Shikon no Tama and Midoriko were finally found by InuYasha it was time that she finished this since she had heard what Kura truly wanted was Ryou's love again and Kagome tried to tell her he truly did love her still so very much but the evil took hold of Kura again and tried to finished killing Kagome so Kagome would never have that chance at love or taking her position a Hime that Kura thought she needed to get Ryou back.
Midoriko couldn't stop what Sessh did to Kura (as the jewel was still lingering in the mess that was Kagome old room where Kura tried to finish her off) , but she could finish Kagome's healing. I still will believe that Ryou will undertand Sesshoumaru's feelings and his reasoning for such a brutal death sentence to be carried out. Everyone thought the Miko Kagome was still dying, she hadn't awoken in 3 weeks and even the scholars agreed to this. But by a miracle the maids decided to clean the room and given investgation into this "ghost within the room", Inu found the Shikon Jewel and Midoriko where she could gide him to help Kagome.
Sesshoumaru was too abrupt but I understand his way. He wanted to cut it off clean because he killed Kura when her told he wouldn't. He knew she wouldn't come to good terms with this and so rather than waiting he just blurted it all out. He'll look back on this and wish he had at least told her he would always love her even if she couldn't forgive his actions. His first mistake was being cold and distant with her first awakening. She would naturally become defensive and have to talk to Ryou who she to promised to not let Kura be killed, anything close to, but not death.
Sorry I wrote so long a review but it been awhile and I've had time to think and just need to share. *laughs* You can laugh at me now too. JEN

Nice chapter btw ; )
Ankita (Chapter 31) - Mon 27 Oct 2014
I hope kagome realises what he did was far more imp. Than her finding the hidden beauty of demon society she should understand of she had died how many people would have suffered as educated as she is i would expect her to see things from others perspective too -_- i feel bad for sessho ... i just hope that the fear that she felt was for ryou and not because of his deed because even before falling in love with him she knew what kind of a demon is sessho should have more faith in him .... Thank you for updating a new chap. Atleast she is alive n well i'll b anxiously waiting for the next chapter ^_^
To get that long await update and to read through it so fast it feels so short! I know it wasn't a longgg wait but just waiting to see how she wakes and to see how Sesshomaru reacts when Kagome does awake !!! It made the wait seem very long, either way I hope to read more soon because of the dramatic changes happening makes the wait so hard! Hope to read more soon!!

Rae (Chapter 30) - Tue 21 Oct 2014
Oh my gosh!! I have been following this story the entire time, and that last chapter...wow. I'm sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for what happens next!! I almost cried, it was so sad. Keep up the amazing work, and I hope you update soon!!! =)
Hm I do not think it's so simple as Kagome being unable to forgive.
Kagome forgives everyone - she forgave Inu for trying to kill her (three times too), she forgave Sesshomaru for the same, she forgave different ranks and groups for not only their attempted assisination of her but their judgement of her and Inuyasha.
When Kagome wakes up she may at first be angry that he killed Kura but she should know.....she is mating a youkai. Youkai are instinctual and have animal like instincts that not even they can overcome. Sesshomaru would have killed - or at least waged war - if Kura had not killed her father.
Secondly, Ssshomaru (guilt ridden or not) would have killed Kura because she spilt Kagome's blood and nearly managed to kill Kagome. So not only did Kura attempt to kill Sesshomaru's chosen but she was a traitor to the Western kingdom and her own kingdom. If Sesshomaru had just let her go, other youkai would have thought him too weak to met out justice and would have attempted to kill Sesshomaru to take his place as Western Lord.
So while Kagome may not like how he killed Kura, it was not only a way to met out justice for all of her transgressions but a warning to others who would not like whom Sesshomaru would mate. It's harsh and barbariac but the youkai world is different from ningen. Kagome has to accept Sesshomaru as he is just as he accepts her as she is.
