The Scary Reality Of Dreams by maggotswillruletheworld

Dreams

A/N: Hey everybody. WARNING: READ MY STORY AT YOUR OWN RISK! Haha, just kidding. My third story...though they took off one of them. Damn they can be so evil sometimes. Oh, and all Japanese used has translations at the end of each chapter. Anyways, here's my new story, and R&R pretty please! Enjoy.

Disclaimer: I do not own in any way, shape, or form Inuyasha. He/they belong to the oh so fabulous Rumiko

Takahashi. Though I do wish I owned the drop dead sexy taiyoukai Sesshoumaru. (wink, wink)

Summary: Sesshoumaru has been having odd dreams about a certain miko (we all know who) that have been irking him to no end. Only when he discovers that the object of his involuntary obsession is having similar dreams does he truly become interested...

Just for clarification: "---" talking/speech; '---' thinking/thoughts

Chapter 1: The Dreams

Sesshoumaru was back at his castle, in a cherry blossom tree orchard with a small pond just outside of the castle gardens, leaning against a tree. A couple hundred yards away from him, Shippou and Rin were playing with a little hanyou girl, who looked about five or six. She had long free-flowing silver hair that had black-tipped ends, bright blue eyes, two rich-colored blue stripes on each of her cheeks, and a sea-green crescent moon on her forehead. Sesshoumaru stood up and watched the children some more, smiling, entranced by the young child who was a spitting image of him, though with a rounder, softer face, and those bright azure doe eyes. Suddenly small warm arms wrapped around his waist from behind, and he swiftly turned and swept the miko into a hug.

"Hello, mate," she said to him, looking up into his perfect face with her blue-gray iridescent eyes shining with happiness. He smiled down at her kind face and caressed his mating mark on the juncture between her shoulder and neck.

He then turned back in the opposite direction to see the little girl climbing a tree. "Mizuki, be careful!" the young woman called out a friendly warning.

"I will, mama! Aren't I always?"

Sesshoumaru snorted. "There's quite a bit of controversy about that."

Suddenly there was the sound of breaking timber, a shriek, followed by a splash. "Well, that was predictable," Sesshoumaru remarked, going to the pond bank to fish his daughter out of the water.

"Thanks, Papa," the girl said happily. He nodded to her and smiled, and she started to skip off towards Rin and Shippou again, humming to herself. Though before she could get very far, she heard her father's voice say, "Time for your bath. All three of you." They all groaned when they heard him, and started a race back to one of the vast castle's entrances.

Sesshoumaru made his way back to his mate. He linked arms with her and proceeded to follow the children back to the castle. He suddenly smirked down at her, struck by an idea. "So, my dear, we have approximately an hour before dinner, what do you want to do?" he asked her with a mischievous glint in his eye.

.o0O0o.

Sesshoumaru woke with a start. 'What was that?' he thought. 'I've never had a dream like that, much less involving some human wench, let alone the whelp's bitch.' He suddenly realized he was panting, his porcelain cheeks flushed, his legs tangled about in his bunched up blankets. He swiftly got out of his large bed, opened his double doors, and went into the long hallway. The hallway was silent, save for Rin's light snoring a few hallways down. However, that's how it should be, since this was his private wing, even with his own bathing area, which was were he was going now. 'A chance to relax and clear my head,' he thought to himself. He reached the bathing room entrance and slid open the door. He could take as long as he wanted, for it were still night, and quite a while until dawn arrived. He gracefully slid out of his sleeping kimono and sunk deeply into the hot water, letting out a heavy sigh.

.o0O0o. With Kagome .o0O0o.

Kagome was at a castle, in a cherry blossom tree orchard with a small pond just outside of the castle gardens. Kagome watched the children, smiling, entranced by the young child who had big bright azure eyes. Suddenly strong arms wrapped around her waist from behind, and she was swiftly turned and swept into a hug.

"Hello, mate," Sesshoumaru said to her. She looked up into his perfect face with her blue-gray iridescent eyes shining with happiness. He smiled down at her kind face and caressed his mating mark on the juncture between her shoulder and neck.

He then turned back in the opposite direction to see the little girl climbing a tree. "Mizuki, be careful!" Kagome called out a friendly warning.

"I will, mama! Aren't I always?"

Sesshoumaru snorted. "There's quite a bit of controversy about that."

Suddenly there was the sound of breaking timber, a shriek, followed by a splash. "Well, that was predictable," Sesshoumaru remarked, going to the pond bank's edge to fish his daughter out of the water.

He linked arms with Kagome and proceeded to follow the children back to the castle. He suddenly smirked down at her struck by an idea. "So, my dear, we have approximately an hour before dinner, what do you want to do?" he asked her with a mischievous glint in his eye.

.o0O0o.

Kagome woke up panting. "Whoa, talk about weird, what the hell was that?"

"What's wrong, Kagome?" Inuyasha barked from his usual place up in a tree, his eyes narrowed.

"Nothing, Inuyasha. It was just a bad dream."

He still did not seem convinced. "Really, Inuyasha, I'm okay," she reassured him. "Go back to sleep." He leaned back against the tree once more, though made sure to keep one ear open just in case.

.o0O0o. Morning .o0O0o.

Kagome mentally cursed the bird for waking her up from her peaceful slumber in such early hours. She tried to burrow deeper into the warmth of her poofy sleeping bag, but a fur ball colliding with her chest kind of made it hard for her.

"Okaa-san, wake up! C'mon, it's time for breakfast! Everyone else is up!" He started to jump lightly on her blanket-covered stomach. She groaned. "Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!"

She groaned again. "All right, all right, Shippou, I'm awake." She lightly pushed him off her and sat up.

"Ohayo, Kagome-chan," Sango said cheerfully. She smiled warmly at the disgruntled onna from her position next to the fire, cooking a light stew for breakfast.

"Ohayo, Kagome," Miroku said.

"Ohayo, everyone," she mumbled, still groggy from not getting much sleep last night because of the odd dream concerning a certain taiyoukai that was still perplexing her. She plopped down unceremoniously next to Sango and ran a hand through her unruly thick mane of hair.

"Daijoubo desu ka, Kagome-chan?" Sango asked her sister-like friend, concerned. Miroku also looked over; taking in his friend's disheveled appearance.

"Yeah, you slept like the dead last night," Inuyasha said, deciding not to fight the effort to put in his two cents into the conversation.

"Hai, daijoubou. I'm just tired. I didn't sleep too well last night. Freaky dreams." She looked thoughtful for a second, thinking about her dream last night. "Hey Sango-chan," she said, suddenly changing the subject. "After breakfast, do you want to go to the hot springs with me? I saw some really ones not to far from here."

"Hai, sure," Sango said cheerily.

"I'll make sure Miroku-sama doesn't try anything funny," Shippou said, puffing out his small chest trying to look more mature. (A/N: as little kids so often try to do, lol)

The girls smiled gratefully at him before giving the houshi identical evil death glares. "Arigato, Shippou!" Shippou sidled over to Miroku to keep an eye on him, and the hentai houshi let out a heavy sigh.

"Oh, the woes of me and my uncontrollable urges," he sighed again for more dramatic effect.

"Hey, houshi, I'm confused."

"Hai, Inuyasha?"

"If they've never said yes to you, then why the hell do you keep asking?"

Miroku put up one finger matter-of-factly, with an all-knowing smirk on his handsome face. "Women are confusing creatures, and they usually don't know what they truly want. I just have to be persistent, and then I will break the barrier around their hearts and their bodies."

Inuyasha was silent for a moment. Then he blurted out, "That has to be one of the stupidest things I've ever heard you say."

.o0O0o. Back With the Girls at the Hot Spring .o0O0o.

Kagome sighed in bliss again. "Wow, this feels great on my aching muscles." The young taijiya moved towards the other girl.

"So, Kagome-chan. Tell me what's been bugging you lately."

Kagome sighed again, though this time it was out of confusion. "Well, I had this really freaky dream last night."

"About...?" Kagome fidgeted under Sango's intense and concerned gaze. "Kagome-chan? About what?"

"Sesshoumaru," the miko said in a small voice.

"What? Sesshoumaru?" Sango said, utterly perplexed. Kagome just nodded.

"Well, what was in the dream?"

Kagome thought for a moment. "Okay, well, the dream started out with me in a cherry blossom orchard in a really really big garden with a small pond even, just outside of a castle, which I assume is Sesshoumaru's, with Shippou and Rin, and a little girl that looked somewhere between 4 and 6 named Mizuki." With Sango's nod she continued. "Okay, so I was just watching them play with each other, when I felt someone hug me from behind, and it turned out to be him. And I hugged him back, of course. Freaky so far, ne? So, then we turn around and watch the little girl who's now climbing a tree. Oh, and this is after he calls me his mate," she put emphasis on the last word. After she heard Sango's loud gasp and saw her stunned expression, she nodded approvingly, and then continued. "So then, the cute little girl is still climbing the tree, we tell her to be careful, and of course, the branch breaks and she falls into the pond that I told you about. Sesshoumaru then lets go of me and goes to help her out of the pond." She paused again. "And I left out the really weird part. The girl was the spitting image of Sesshoumaru, except she had big, bright blue eyes. And she called him papa and me mama. That's basically all that happened." Kagome didn't dare repeat Sesshoumaru's last remark; that would be far too embarrassing. She came back to reality to find Sango's intense chocolate stare on her.

"Interesting," was all she said.

"C'mon, Sango-chan, I'm going to need more of a reaction than that," Kagome impatiently prodded her, wanting to know the other girl's take on the situation.

"Well, let's think about this, Kagome-chan. I think there are two possibilities. Either, one, it could be just another regular strange dream, you know, nothing to worry about, or two, it could be some sort of premonition."

"A premonition?" Kagome asked, puzzled. "But Sango-chan, how can I ever end up being his mate? He's been our enemy for the longest time, not to mention we're total opposites!"

Sango suddenly laughed. "Well, you know what they say, opposites attract!"

"Sango-chan!" She playfully splashed some water at the taijiya. "C'mon, I'm serious! What do you think I should do?"

"Calm down, Kagome-chan, I was only joking with you. Maybe we should ask Miroku-sama about this when we get back to camp."

Kagome nodded in agreement. "Though I think we should wait until Inuyasha goes somewhere. I don't want him to know about this yet."

Sango also nodded. Her face then took on a suspicious expression. "Speaking of Miroku, we should leave before the hentai tries to come looking for us."

.o0O0o. Back at Camp .o0O0o.

"Hey, houshi! What the hell do you think is taking them so long!" shouted a grumpy, not to mention impatient, inu-hanyou.

"I don't know, Inuyasha. You know how women are fond of bathing, and those two are certainly no exception. Would you like me to go check on them?" His previously serious face now graced with a smirk.

Inuyasha just growled and muttered things under his breath that sounded suspiciously something like "lecherous houshis" and things of that sort.

Suddenly there was a rustle in the bushes and a relaxed taijiya and a preoccupied miko strode out of the bushes.

"Ah, speak of the devil," Miroku remarked, a smirk settled on his face once again.

Sango snorted. "No doubt you were just talking about something perverted. Am I right, houshi-sama?" A distrustful glare was aimed at the monk.

Miroku wisely chose not to answer.

"C'mon let's set out quickly. You guys wasted almost the whole morning," snapped a still grouchy hanyou.

.o0O0o. Later That Night .o0O0o.

"OOOOO! Ramen! Gimme some! NOW!" They had just set up camp for the night in side a clearing just inside the edge of the forest.

"Hold on Inuyasha! It's not ready yet! Remember, patience is a virtue!"

"What? Why the hell should I start caring about "virtues" now when they did nothing for me before?"

Kagome sighed heavily, as she had been prone to doing a lot these last few days. "Geez, he can be so exhausting sometimes, well actually, most of the time. He really knows how to put a damper on your day.' She sighed again. "Okay, Inuyasha, now it's ready."

"FINALLY!" He roughly snatched it out of her hand and greedily wolfed it down.

After all the ramen that Kagome had cooked was eaten, Inuyasha was still hungry. "Got any more, Kagome?"

She searched her bag for a few moments, but found none. "Sorry Inuyasha, I don't have any left. Maybe if you actually let me go home for a while, I could refill my stock again," she hinted.

Inuyasha snorted angrily. "Feh, (A/N: ah, the famous feh/keh sound!) I ain't gonna let ya go home every few days like you want to! And it's mostly because of those stupid "tests" of yours! There is no way in hell they can be more important than finding the jewel shard, that, may I remind you, YOU broke!" Kagome was about to retort back, furious because he had just blamed all his problems on her, but he growled irately under his breath, abruptly cutting her off. "I'm going hunting!" With that said, he quickly bounded off into the forest.

Kagome forced herself to relax and exchanged glances with Sango. 'Well, this is a losing battle. Might as well drop it. We have too many fights for my liking anyways.'

As soon as Sango was sure Inuyasha was out of sight and earshot, and Kagome was cooled down a bit, she made her way over to Kagome's side, crouching down next to her.

"Do you want to ask him now?" she whispered.

"Might as well, this is a good a time as any," Kagome responded, just as quiet. Miroku and Shippou broke off the conversation they were having and were now looking at the two young women curiously. Sango motioned for the monk to come closer.

"Hey, Miroku-sama, we need your advice on something." The monk nodded for her to continue, intrigued, and Sango looked expectantly at Kagome. Kagome took a deep breath before starting. "Okay, it starts out with Sesshoumaru and I..."

When Kagome was done telling Miroku the story, she looked at him anxiously, apprehensively waiting for his answer. He halted briefly and mulled things over before giving his opinion.

"I agree with Sango. It could be just a dream, or it could be a premonition or omen of some sort. There's no way of telling right now, unless, of course, Sesshoumaru-sama comes and sweeps you off your feet telling you that he's in love with you and you're to become his mate, but that's not very likely so we can throw the option that that's going to happen out. I guess all we can really do for now is wait and see. Try not to fret about it too much." He put a comforting hand on her shoulder, then got up and went to lean against a tree, closing his eyes and doing his daily meditations.

Kagome slowly walked over to her sleeping bag and gracelessly plopped down on it. She then slowly crawled down into it, welcoming the warmth it gave off. 'Inuyasha still isn't back yet,' she absently thought to herself.

"Going to sleep already, Kagome-chan?" Sango asked.

She yawned, and then replied, "Yeah, I'm tired, hopefully I won't be plagued by weird dreams tonight."

'What was that dream about? What does it mean? Am I just being overly paranoid? Or is the dream some sort of foreboding? But that doesn't make sense, why would I ever want to marry Sesshoumaru?' She calmed her rampant brain that was full of questions and no answers, and her tired and frustrated mind willingly gave into the hopefully peaceful haven that was the dream world.
