Dark Days by Wolfen Blood

The Curse

Chapter 1 the curse

It was almost that time of month again, the moon was almost high in the sky, four more hours and he would have no recollections of his memories, lose the control he had over himself and destroy everything that dared to cross his path. He, for sure, would be covered by blood come morning.

A sigh escaped his lips, this had been going on for what at least seemed like 300 years then he stopped counting, so it was probably much more then he assumed. He searched far and wide for a cure to this curse of his but found no solution. He traveled far and wide for someone who might be able to break this curse but neither priest nor priestess could find a cure.

Every night of the full moon the servants, guards, and everyone else who resided in his castle would flee to the caverns below his fortress, it seemed it was there for a purpose, as it had knew he would be cursed. Even though he and every one else here in his castle were youkai, none could stand up to his wrath whether in his regular demon form or cursed, so I guess this 'curse' isn't all that bad, but friend or foe didn't matter to the beast that he was cursed to be, he wouldn't care if he killed a few humans by accident the less humans in the world the better. At dawn every one would return to the castle above and find the walls all through their Lord's castle to be covered with claw marks, furniture destroyed.

Their Master had two chambers, one of which was his regular chamber, or bedroom, the other no one knew of its purpose nor have ever seen the insides of. Many believed it to be where the Lord conceals himself during the night of the full moon but none can be completely sure, since the walls of the castle were almost always found scared with claw marks the next day.

Villagers steered clear o the castle, knowing it to be curse, or at least the Demon Lord who live there to be cursed. A tale originated from the castle and it was passed from villager to villager and they would pass it on to their children. The tale differed according to each village, but the base of the tale stayed the same, which was that the lord was cursed. But what the curse was no one knew, each village made up their own curse, one of which was that he turned into a horrible beast, to he turned into which he despises most, a human, on the night of the full moon. These guess were often used to scare children into doing right. Only the lord himself knew what it was.

It was almost time, the moon began to glow, stars started to appear across the dark depths of the night sky. Removing his gaze from the moon he walked away from the window and to the door of his chamber. Exiting the room he walked down the silent hall, the servants and guest probably already left for the caverns below. His pace quickened when waves of pain coursed though his body, his heart beat quickened. Entering his privet chambers, he closed the door behind him and walked to the center of the room.

Muscles shifted over one another, bones lengthened, fangs and claws grew longer and sharper. His hands and feet shifted into paws, the leather boots he wore split at the seams. His hoari shredded from the tension of his body becoming to large for his cloths, the hakama he wore tore at the knees and the pieces of cloth fell to the ground. Silver fur covered his body, his head shifted into that of a wolf, fangs protruded from his mouth, furry ears appeared on the top of his head. Only the golden color of his eyes, the two magenta stripes that adorned each wrist and each cheek, and the blue crescent moon on his forehead remained the same.

His golden eyes narrowed, baring his fangs as he made his way over to the balcony of his privet chambers, shredding obstacles that crossed his path, his claws dug into the wood of a table and threw it to the other side of the room, the crake of the wood sounded throughout the room as it collided with the wall and split in two.

Finally reaching the balcony, moonlight shined down upon him as he stepped from the shadows of the room and into the fresh air, his silver fur glistened from the light that poured down upon him, his fluffy tail dragged on the floor behind him.

Lifting his nose to the moon, he opened his mouth and let out an eerie howl that filled the night sky, the sad cry was heard throughout the country, awaking almost anyone who had been sleeping.

The saddened cry stopped as he returned his head to look across the land he conquered, oceans of forest spread across his lands. Jumping from the balcony, the wind rustled his fur as he landed quietly on the ground. Baring his fangs he took cautious steps toward the forest. A growl rumbled from his chest, blood pounded loudly in his ears. His predatory instincts took over, the overwhelming urge to kill, to have blood stain his claws flooded though him, his tail swept madly across the ground back and forth in anticipation.

His steps grew faster and was soon sprinting thought the forest, His padded hands and feet made no sound as he moved though the forest like a ghost.

The night had begun.
