Description:
Kagome fidgeted nervously as the maid handed her a tray with a small silk pouch on it. Willing her hand not to tremble with every ounce of strength she had, she nodded and bowed a bit to the maid who returned the gesture and then left.
Holding it in her hands, she glanced around the pavilion nervously. When Inuyasha had come to her door the day before inviting her and her sister Kikyo to a moon viewing party at an ochaya she had never fathomed that he would be there.
As it turned out, this party was actually being hosted by Inuyasha's elder, wealthy merchant brother. He was a dream to Kagome, his cool reserve kept most at bay, but she had managed to sneak a few moments where she saw what lay beneath. Even his missing arm held no repulsion for her.
Now, half way through the evening, the geiko and maiko with them had magically whisked everyone off for a quick boat ride down the river, leaving her suddenly alone with the man she admired so strongly. The sake had gone straight to her head, and she now berated herself for loosing track of the others. Now she was stranded with a man that did not even know she existed. The moments ticked by, she felt his molten gaze upon her. Despite the refreshing summer breeze coming off the river, the air suddenly felt oppressive. Much to her relief she heard someone coming back to the room. Surely it was a geiko come to lead them to the others!
Instead it was a maid, carrying the tray that held the small pouch that was now in her hands.
Sesshomaru narrowed his gaze upon her, tossed a small cup of sake back before quietly telling her to open it. As she tugged on the string of the pouch, she watched with one eye as he poured her and him another cup of sake. Finally she open the purse and out spilled the most gorgeous comb she had ever seen. It was lacquered in the richest cobalt blue she had ever seen, an uncanny match to the shade of her own eyes. Set in the center was what really took her breath away, what she had only ever seen once before in her life to even guess what it was. A diamond cut into the shape of a crescent moon.
