PAST
On the island of Maui she was adopted by the Higurashi family when she was only 3months old. Her biological mother named her Kau'inohealani and asked that the receaving family at least keep her Hawaiian name in remembrance of her heritage. The new soon to be parents accepted the mothers last Wish before she passed. When the nurse came out with the baby she handed it to the new adoptive mother and left the room. Sara couldn't help but cry, and Stephen couldn't help but feel a sense of pride at his new little family that was only full of 2 become a beautiful set of 3. He grabbed his wife's shoulders and kissed her head. As Sara continued to cry she thanked all the kami's for finally allowing her to have a child. Whether it be from her womb or not she was going to love her daughter until the heaven's fell from the skies and the world faded to dust. She slowly unwrapped the pink bundle in her hand. The sleeping beauty had a full head of curly black hair and a goldy brown glow for skin.
Sara kissed her daughter on the head and smiled up at her husband.
"Sweetie look" Stephen said with wide eyes as Sara looked down and saw that the baby started to open her eyes.
What they seen next was breath taking. She had beautiful piercing icy blue eyes with a dash of gold. Dark blue around the edges fading into lighter shades of blue and a piercing white and gold that seemed to be mixed into every layer almost like a swirling snow storm in her eyes. The baby looked into the woman's eyes and instantly smiled. The couple fell in love instantly with their new found bundle of joy.
"What will we name her love?" Stephen asked his wife.
"Hmmmm, let's name her after your mother Kagome and her given Hawaiian name will be her middle name and of course our last name" Sara smiled
"Kagome Kau'inohealani Higurashi hmmm, it sounds as mysterious and beautiful as she is" Stephen whispered.
"Yes indeed love and she will be ours to cherish forever, my baby girl" she cried "I promise to love you forever and cherish you till the end". Sara said looking down at the smiling baby and kissed her nose.
Stephen smiled at what his wife said and kissed his new born daughter and wife. He turned and grabbed the file the nurse left on the counter. The birth certificate only stated that her mother and father were both of Hawaiian Ancestry. There was a letter attached that stated the father had died not to long ago from natural causes and that the mother was only 18 and didn't have the means to care for this child thus resulting in her decision to go through an adoption agency. Her mothers name was Makana Kapu and the father was Lance Kekane nothing else was in the file.
*thats it? Nothing else? No living relations what so ever? Odd* thought Stephen as he frowned. He struggled to shake the thought *what if one day kagome asked who her family was and i don't know how to answer the question because both her biillogical parents are now deceased?* his brow furrowed.
He finally shook the thoughts and insisted on waiting for the day to come rather then spoil his mood now. Just as he set the file down a rather large and thick worn out brown envelope fell to the floor. He picked it up and on the front in beautiful cursive it read:
"To: Kau'inohealani
please give this to her when she is 15 and only then can she read the contents in this envelope"
He looked to see if there was any name or hint as to who it was from, but found nothing. *Strange I didn't see this when the nurse first dropped this off* Stephen thought about it but shook it off. *I'm a dad now* he thought as a smile spread on his face.
He set it aside for later and walked back towards his beautiful family and chuckled as he saw the scene before him. Sara had Kagome propped up on her chest facing her and seemed to be having a staring contest. Just as he approached the two Kagome tilted her head in his direction smiling as she laughed. She stared into his eyes He felt as if she was reaching towards him with some unseen force telling him to carry her. He followed through with the feeling and picked her up. Stephen heard his wife yawn and position herself on the hospital lazy boy as she reclined it and fell fast asleep.
*she always falls asleep so fast* he thought as he chuckled at his wife.
He turned back to his daughter, as he gazed into her eyes there was a soft tingle he felt calm his heart and soul. He felt as if he fell into a heavenly pool of warm love as he continued to stare at his daughter. He felt the smile grow on his face when she smiled back at him. Almost as if she was hugging his soul. Stephen could feel the huge amount of power and love as he stared into those beautiful mysterious eyes.
"What are you My beautiful little wahine? Are you an angel sent to me from the kami's?" he whispered to her as he kissed her nose. The small baby laughed as she grabbed a hold of his lip causing him to chuckle. "You are special my little wahine I can feel it" Stephen whispered as he patted her back lulling her back to the land of dreams.
Nine years had passed since the couple had first encountered their baby girl and well let's just say family life was great. School however was not as easy. It was hard enough being a Hawaiian with eyes that didn't quite match the heritage. But she never let anything or anyone stop her from well, anything. Nobody would mess with kagome. Not after what happened her fourth grade year.
Kaliko was Aloha elementary's local bully. He was a sixth grader and kagome well she was a fourth grader. He always picked on kagome and she never knew why. She was quiet and kept to herself, but she was kind to those who showed kindness to her. But she was also a fighter and soon enough everybody in the school, and neighborhood would find out. They would all know about the Hawaiian girl with the scary eyes and the heavy hands.
FLASH BACK
"What haole (white) girl" Kaliko said as he kicked the almost completed sand man down causing sand to fly up into her face and hair.
"What u like kaliko?!" She said angrily wiping the sand off her face and trying to shake the sand out of her long braid her mother worked so hard on earlier that morning. Her hands starting to form into fists as she stood up to him. She was a full head shorter then him but nothing scared her.
"No haoles allowed in the sand box! so beat it haole girl" he said with utter distaste as he spit on her fallen sandy friend. "I'm not haole! You Stupid dummy" she said calmly paying no mind to the growing crowd and his little boy troop behind him.
"Yah right DAS why you get dah haole kine color eyes ah?.
". He laughed as him and his little troop of boys formed a circle around her in the sand box and stated kicking sand at her and pushing her around.
She slumped to the ground in the middle of them her breaths coming in staggering beats. Her bangs covered her eyes as they started to glow. Her fists started to slightly glow but nobody could see anything with the sand and dust in the air. Her hands balled up tightly as blood dripped from her palms. She grabbed a hand full of sand and flung it at kaliko's eyes.
"Ahhh you stupid haole girl" Kaliko screamed trying to rub his eyes clear of sand failing miserably.
"Ho brah I tink she like scrap (fight) wit'chu" one of the little troop boys said.
"OOOOHHHHHHHHHH" the crowd whispered.
"I don't want to fight you, just leave me alone" Kagome said turning to leave.
Just as she was about to leave kaliko grabbed her long braid with his right hand swiveling her head so that she was now facing him. Now she was pissed she absolutely HATED when people touched her hair. Her body seemed to glow, eyes now the color of blood. Her hands glowed a bright gold. Kaliko had his left hand rearing back as it started to descend towards her face. His fist connected but the girl didn't move. Instead his hand hurt like hell.
"Owwww!" the boy screamed in pain as he looked at his bloody knuckles.
The crowd of kids old and young screaming "scrap! Scrap! Scrap! Scrap!".
Just as he pulled back his hand again his fist was just about to connect with her face but she looked up at him and he seen her glowing red eyes and she smiled.
*is that fangs!?* he thought as his body froze with fear.
He wanted to run away but his body wouldn't budge as he was paralyzed looking into the bloody eyes. His hand still going through with the hit. As if everything went in slow motion she seen his hand coming. She looked up at him through her now messy and sandy bangs and stepped back. Reared her right fist back and aimed for his jaw. Her fist connected and up went Kaliko, flying 10feet away from the sand box. She looked up towards the crowd and they all gasped as they seen her eyes and hands glowing.
As the principal came running toward the scene. Kagome looked down at her hands glowing and she started to cry. Bloody tears fell from kagomes eyes she looked up at everyone surrounding her and screamed. The school yard instantly erupted into chaos.
Girls screaming "DEMON!!!"
Boys screaming "HO DAT WAS NUTS!!!"
The younger kids ran straight to their classrooms and hid under the desks crying. The principal Mrs.Aloha reached out to Kagome and as she got a look at the child's face fell backwards out of fear. Within seconds Kagome stopped glowing and knocked out. The principal carried the little girl to the nurses office and informed her parents of what took place. Kagome was placed on 1week suspension for fighting and Kaliko as well but he had to spend his suspension in the hospital with a broke jaw. Nobody messed with Kagome after that ever. And nobody befriended her either. Leaving Kagome to be a lonely soul for the rest of her elementary years. After 6th grade graduation the family moved to Oahu for her dad's new job.
END FLASH BACK
PRESENT
It was a hot Thursday afternoon and Kagome was on her way home from her first day of School at Pacific high. She glanced at her teal Minnie Mouse watch it read 2:30
*YESSSS DANCE PRACTICE!* kagome squealed in her head all giddy inside.
"MAMA!" Kagome yelled as she walked into the town house.
"Yes sweety? How was your first day of school?" her mom asked.
"Im all pau (done) with my homework and it was mean! (Alright/cool/awesome) made a new friend *not really she lied* but eh ma im gonnah walk to dance practice with Lei" she hollered. She ran upstairs to her room grabbing her dance bag and dashed for the door.
"K! Be back before 6!" she heard her mom yell.
Lei was kagomes best friend, and only friend. She met her in middle school she was a half breed, just like Kagome. In their case "Half breed" was having two heritages that didn't quite get along with each other. Lei was a little shorter then kagome with long thick wavy brown hair and brown eyes. Lei was Hawaiian and Samoan. She would get picked on by both races because of history. Let's just say some people still couldn't get over what happened in the distant past between the two races. Lei was a fighter just like Kagome, thus making her a loner in middle school. One day Kagome walked up to her and said hi and from that day on the two had been inseparable.
Kagome walked a couple blocks over and stopped in front of Lei's house. It was a run down apartment building. Haunted looking if you will. She waited just outside the graffitied hallway that was locked with a rusty gate.
"Bye grandma I see you when I pau dance! I going with kagome ! See you ma!" Lei hollered while slamming the rusty gate closed.
Kagome giggled as she seen her best friend run towards her. "Hey lei! Practice is at 3:30 wannah catch some sets!?"
"As always" lei replied Smiling. The two walked a couple more blocks over till they finally ended up at Waikiki beach.
The sets was not all that but the sun was high and it was blazing hot. Perfect conditions for a quick beach session. Kagome seen a manapua (lunch wagon) man truck and stopped to grab a plate lunch for their other friend Ikaika. The only guy friend that was man enough to befriend kagome. The two girls continued to walk on the sidewalk passing Duke Kahanamoku's statue. They walked up to the rent-a-board hut and tugged off their shirts and yanked off their pants revealing their bikini bottoms and sports bra's.
"Kaika!" (Ka-eye-ka) kagome yelled.
A tan boy who was about 6'3 and about 195lbs came up to the front counter. He was tan with blonde hair and blue eyes. And a body to kill for as most surfer boys did. "Hey girls" he said smiling.
"The usual ?" Lei asked.
He smiled and grabbed two long boards from the back of the hut and handed it to them through the back door of the hut. Kagome and lei tossed him their bags and turned to run into the blue ocean.
"EHHHH! WEA MY PAYMENT!" Kaika yelled at the girls
"STE INSIDE MY BAG!" Kagome screamed as she laughed.
He looked in her bag and seen a plate. He opened it and smiled.
*chicken katsu wit extra rice hold dah salad! Cheeeeee pono best friends forever!* he cheered in his head.
He grabbed a sign that read lunch break and put it on the front of the hut and sat in the back door frame and ate his food. He let his feet rest in the sand as he watched the 2 coolest girls he's ever met paddle out to catch some waves. Everyday since they became friends was the same for the trio. Home. Beach. School. Beach. Practice. Beach. Home. Repeat. Ikaika, well kaika for short met the two girls one day while he was working at his dad's board hut. It was his first day on the job alone. He remembered how they met, and man how could he forget. He smiled as he ate his lunch plate and let his mind wander back in time.
FLASH BACK
*Todays my first day cheeeee, I can't believe pops let me have this job and I'm actually getting paid!* kaika laughed to himself. *to bad school starts next week* he frowned at the thought.
He looked at his work schedule his dad gave him that morning. Everyday after school from 2:30-6:30 he was gonnah run his dad's rent-a-board hut. And on the weekends he had off.
*YES ! You dah man pops!* he smiled silently thanking his old man that he was nice enough to give him the weekends off.
As he crossed the street he walked over to the hut and started opening up shop. He opened shop and pulled out a chair and grabbed the latest surfing magazine and started reading. No less then 15minutes into the magazine he got bombarded with tourists asking for boards some throwing money at him. Can you say crazy? Yeah he was so not ready for this.
*i thought it was gonnah be a chill job* he muttered.
Trying to keep up with the orders as he ran back and forth handing the customers the boards they requested. He struggled to keep up with the money count and what money he took from what customer.
"Shit I hope I'm not short or anything" he swore under his breath.
Kagome and lei walked by and seen the commotion. She couldn't help but feel bad for the poor boy. So she looked over to Lei and winked. Anytime Kagome or Lei winked trouble always followed. Kagome headed towards the crowded hut.
"Hooooo easy boo!" Kagome yelled. The crowd grew quiet. Kaika heard a woman yell and wondered who it was.
"Calm down dah boy is trying". Lei said following Kagome into the crowded space.
Kaika heard another woman yell but he couldn't find the owners of the two voices. Suddenly a frustrated tall Caucasian man who had been waiting for his board pulled Kaika over the front counter. He was about to pummel the young mans face, Kaika waited for the hit but it never came.
*I swear I heard somebody get hit* he thought to himself.
He opened his eyes and seen the tall man down and out on the pavement.
"I said easy boo" Kagome repeated as she looked down at the fallen man.
Kaika looked up to see who could possibly take out this big man with one hit. His mouth dropped at the beauty standing before him. He instantly fell in love. She was wearing black sunglasses with a black bikini bottom that was surrounded by tanned thickness and a camo colored sports bra. She had a long black braid slung over her left shoulder and A big white smile.
*oh my gosh* he thought mouth still wide open *its an angel* he stared a little bit longer.
And seen a second angel step beside the first one, the second one just as beautiful as the first just a bit shorter.
*omg I've got to be dead I think my heart just broke* he thought.
So he did what any beauty struck teenaged guy would do he pinched himself and winced as he felt the pain. *well this is all real* he laughed to himself. Still staring at the two beauties.
"Anybody else like sleep?" The first. Beauty yelled to the crowd. Nobody answered. "Good now see this guy he's my friend and if you wannah catch those sets she pointed to the beach you betah line up in one line and chill and wait fo yoa (your) board keh!?". Content with the quietness of the crowd Kagome smiled and left.
Within minutes the crowd formed a line and within the next few hours the crowd died out. Kaika looked out on the beach but couldn't seem to find the two beauties. He wanted to thank them for helping out. He looked at his watch it was almost time to close. *might as well start putting all these boards away* he thought sighing. He locked up the hut and started to walk home.
"Hey you!" He heard the familiar female voice. He turned around to see the two beauties looking at him.
"Hey!" He yelled out smiling as they walked towards him. Kagome and lei had towels wrapped around their hips and Hurley snap backs on their heads and they're sports bras. *YES ! They came back! Lols* he laughed to himself. The shorter one came up to him
"I'm lei" she smiled as she leaned in to kiss him on the cheek (that's how you say hi I'm Hawaii). And that's kagome she said pointing behind her. Kagome just looked and threw her head up.
"Sup" she said.
"Sup I'm kaika" he said giving a cute nervous smile. "Thanks for earlier! you guys saved my life" he laughed.
"It's koo" kagome and lei said in unison.
"You guys headed towards town side?" Both girls nodded yes. "you guys down for some smoothies?" He offered.
"Shoots!" Kagome replied with the biggest smile ever.
Lei and Kaika just laughed as the three walked across the street to Jamba Juice. "Your cool, how old are you?" Kagome asked Kaika.
"Fifteen what bout you guys?" he asked the two girls.
"Fourteen" they both replied.
"What school you guys going to?" He asked the girls as they all took a seat outside Jamba Juice.
"Starting next week we start as freshmens at pacific high what about you?" Kagome asked Kaika.
"Ho yeah! Me too!" Kaika said with a little to much cheer in his voice.
The two girls laughed not minding his cheerfulness at all. The three continued their journey home as they got to know each other better. But as all good things must come to an end the girls had to part with their new found friend Kaika.
"If you guys ever want a board just come and bring me a plate lunch for payment" he laughed before leaving his two new friends.
"Garenz!! (Garuntee)" Kagome replied laughing
"Shooties den! (See you later)" Lei yelled laughing as they left.
END FLASH BACK
*Yup that was the best day of my life. It's not everyday a guy gets two hot chicks as best friends* he laughed.
After catching some sets and soaking up the sun for a bit the two girls ran to their Halau studio. Practice started at 3:30 with 10minutes to spare the two girls quickly changed into their first outfits. A black Páreo (sarong) and a red tank top and still dipping hair.
*I hope kumu doesn't notice the sand in my hair* kagome laughed to herself.
Tahitian practice was always fun. From 3:30-4:30 Kumu (teacher) kula taught the girls a new routine which they mastered beautifully.
"Kagome" Kumu yelled.
"Yes kumu?" She replied with a smile.
"Come talk to me after hula practice ok?" Kumu said with a stern ring to her voice.
"Ae (yes in HAWAIIAN) kumu" Kagome said smiling.
"Okay girls gather around" kumu hollered over all the chit chat. "i want you all to practice the new Tahitian dance we learned and also the 2hulas we learned today starting tomorrow every Friday we will have no practice". Almost all the girls started whining.
*awwwww kumu but this is my life* Kagome whined in her head.
"No whining or everyone will do 10 laps of duck walks around the studio" kumu said.
*oh hell no* Kagome whined in her head.
The room fell silent again and kumu continued. "You will all practice on your own twice as hard on Fridays and on Saturday we will have morning practices 8-10 on the beach & then we can go swim after" Kumu smiled knowing that all her girls loved the halau beach practices. The girls cheered "ok class dismissed" kumu yelled. All the girls parents were waiting outside But since Kagome's dad was working late and her mom was heavily pregnant she was left to walk home alone. Kagome grabbed her slippers and was about to run out the door when she heard her kumu.
"Ho'olohe kau'i e hele Mai" (listen kau'i come here) she heard her kumu say.
Kagome smiled, only kumu could call her by her Hawaiian name and speak to her in Hawaiian. She walked over to her kumu and sat down on the floor In front of the aging woman whom she had grown to love as a grandmother.
"Sorry kumu I forgot you wanted to see me. I must've got excited! Moms making cabbage and corn beef tonight" Kagome said with eagerness.
"Yes I know its your favorite" kumu said laughing. "So Kau'i you have been learning very quickly and I want you to do all the solos since your the only one who can memorize and conquer all the bumps to the drums in the Tahitian numbers".
Kagome felt her jaw drop and couldn't believe her ears.
"Yes Kau'i you have earned it" kumu said with a smile.
Kagome quickly slapped her mouth shut and jumped up hugging her kumu. "Mahalo kumu, you won't be disappointed" Kagome said with tears threatening to Fall.
"You better get going kau'i I'll see you Saturday" kumu said. And with that Kagome took off running all the way home.
It was 2nd semester for kagome at pacific high. She was the youngest and best outside hitter on the girls varsity volleyball team. She was also the team captain of the girls varsity basketball team. Besides the change in social life her body also started changing and my was she filling out Physically in all the right places. She was full Hawaiian so she wasn't slim like most girls her age, she was thick. She weighed in at 180lbs pure muscle and beauty and stood at 5'11. She wasn't all muscled out. She had broad shoulders a full size C cup that insisted on growing. A lean flat tummy, a thick behind that lead to a pair of beautifully thick and toned legs. She was every boys dream beach girl at school. Her and lei were two of the schools prettiest girls. Lei wasn't much Into sports she was more of the student council type. Despite the two best friends different social groups they still remained the best of friends. And Kaika he was a total jock. He was team captain of the paddling team and the youngest starting QB of the varsity football team. If you didn't know the trio you would have never thought they'd all be such close friends. But one thing Kagome seemed to understand more then anyone was that "nothing is as it seems".
The Higurashi family of three became a family of four as Kagome entered the ending half of her second semester of high school. Her family was blessed with a boy named Souta. After Souta was born Kagome's father ended up working 13hr shifts at the warehouse trying to support his family. And since her mom was on maternity leave from her nursing job and being that life in Hawaii was expensive, they started to struggle financially. During Kagome's fathers new and hectic schedule he turned to drinking every day after work. He became abusive always hitting her mother and saying nasty things. Her mother started to wear lots of makeup to hide the bruises, Kagome wasn't stupid but her mother pleaded with her to stay quiet about it.
"If you tell anyone he might hurt you" her mother cried one night in her room as Kagome tried to comfort her. Kagome looked at her once happy home and strong mother and felt her heart shatter in two.
*I'm only 14 mom what can I do?* she cried to herself silently as she hugged her brother to her chest. Falling asleep with her brother in her arms she glowed and a blanket of gold covered her bed as the two kids slept peacefully.
Souta was getting big and kagome simply loved and adored him to pieces. When she wasn't at any of her extra cuticular activities, or catching waves at the beach with Lei and Kaika, she was at home caring for her brother. Her mom and dad fought constantly and durring those troubled times Sotua would cry and Kagome would pick him up and lock themselves in her room. She would sing to him as her mother and father would fight downstairs. She would hear things break and furniture being moved, she would hear her mother scream and cry out and then silence. This was a routine for kagome, and one she was getting sick of. She kissed Souta on the nose and he instantly fell asleep. She tucked him into her arms as they both fell asleep in her room. Unbeknownst to her there was a shimmering gold bubble that seemed to wrap around the bed as the two children were fast asleep. The Kami's were watching Kagome's powers come to life with each passing day.
A few days later things quieted down at home. Tonight was the Tahitian competition And next week was her volleyball state championships. Kumu kula asked Kagome if she was going to participate A few weeks ago. She accepted.
*tonights the night* she thought nervously.
Kagome was always humble about her talents and no matter how many times she would perform or how big the crowd she would always get stage fright. But she knew as soon as those drums came on she would be okay.
All her halau sisters cheered and screamed "CHEEEEE HOOOOO COME ON GOME!"
She laughed at the nickname that somehow just stuck with her over the years. The competition was held at the Polynesian Cultural Center. As she stood looking at her reflection she smiled her black and gold head piece with raffia hanging down on all sides with huge shiny shells on the front shimmred in the light. Her thick curly black hair fell over her shoulders down to her knees so thick and full Of volume. Her strapless black bra hugged her breasts and had been adorned with smaller shells That matched her head piece. And her simple black páreo was placed low on her hips showing her luscious brown tummy that was kissed by the sun and showed her gorgeous V cut. She glanced at her reflection giving herself a a final thumbs up and turned ready to head out to the stage. She smiled as she seen her kumu walk in. Kumu stopped dead in her tracks.
"Kau'i your so gorgeous !!!!" She yelled !
"Mahalo (thank you) kumu" Kagome beamed and hugged her kumu.
"DONT FORGET YOUR LIPSTICK! Acckkkk you always forget you NEED TO PUT ON LIPSTICK" her kumu yelled at her making an annoyed face.
Kagome laughed as her kumu made her turn toward her and applied the red thing she hated to her lips. Kagome never liked caking her face but when you dance hula or Tahitian your supposed to. But she only applied coconut lotion to her body that was all the "makeup" she felt she needed.
"And up next our last contestant Kagome Kau'inohealani Higheashi!!!!!" The man announced.
Kagome took a breath and walked on to the stage hands on her hips as the crowd was met with her beautiful smile.
She heard her mom screaming "THATS MY BABY GIRL!!"
Kagome heard Her halau sisters scream and holler. She heard whistles from guys and flirty comments but those she paid no mind to and then the lights dimmed. Kagome's eyes flashed white for a moment as the drums beat started softly. Her hips went in slow circles as she lifted her hands from her hips touching the sides of her tummy to her breasts and turned and twirled her hips as her hands shot out to the side of her. She had her back to the crowd as she worked her hips and looked back at them with this seductive look drawing in the crowd. Her hips bumped to each beat as her hands flowed in synch around her. She smiled seductively as her eyes seemed to glow. Men hollered, friends cheered and the drums pickeds up speed. Her hips swayed sexily never missing a beat. The beats came faster and harder. Each bump with her hips caused her Páreo to shift higher and open flashing all to see her tanned upper thighs and well rounded behind. She hit it from side to side to a figure eight while doing a fa'arapu (circle) on her tip toes. She did belly roll's with one leg up still managing to shake her hips at the same time. The cheering continued she had this wild beauty to her this untamed island beauty, that just pulled you in. Sweat rolled down her tummy and chest as she continued to entrance the crowd with her beauty and exotic moves. She tip toed and bumped her hips harder as the drums picked up more speed. Her hands flew up as the shrill Tahitian call erupted from her Lips and as the beats came to an abrupt end she posed. Right hand wrapped around her waist as the other was seductively entwined in her hair with her head angled to the floor. Her right foot flat and left foot at a point with her left hip out she looked so sexy and innocent like she was trying to cover her body yet entice you to want more. She gave a sexy smile as the arena erupted with cheers. She took a step back and threw her hands open to the side and bowed forward.
"It appears we have a winner !" The announcer yelled.
Kagome simply bowed and smiled as 5 huge bouquets of native island flowers were handed to her a long with a check for $15,000. Kagome seen her mother beaming with pride in the stands grabbing little Souta's hand and shook a wave from him to her as he laughed. Kagome was so happy her baby brother looked proud of her. She seen her father looking at her. She asked him to come since he's never seen her perform and so he did. She thought she would see happiness and pride and when she looked at him she found just that. She smiled as he smiled brightly at her and waved and threw up a thumbs up. "Good job my little wahine" she read off his lips. And tears started to fall. She gave another bow of her head as the arena still cheered for her. She then turned and made her way back to the dressing rooms.
She met her halau sisters and her kumu there and they all hugged her kissed her and congratulated her. After undressing she threw on a pair of sweat pants, a plain white Tshirt and tugged on her white tube socks and black Scott's. She finished by throwing her heavy hair in a quick messy bun. With a quick kiss goodbye she handed her Tahitian outfit to her kumu and walked out to the parking lot. She saw her parents and Souta waiting for her. As she walked towards them strangers adorned her with leis and little "congratulations". After what seemed to be hours she finally reached her family. Her neck now adorned with beautiful leis. As she got closer to the red Tundra she hoisted her duffle bag and bouquets into the back of the truck. Just in time to see little Souta beaming at her with the cutest smile she ever seen. She threw her arms wide open and he laughed. She gladly pulled him in and placed a kiss to his forehead and looked to her mom and dad as they came towards her.
"Good job baby! You did great! mama is so proud of you !" her mom squealed and hugged kagome smothering her with kisses.
"Good job my little wahine" her dad said as he glanced over to her and pulled her into a quick embrace. The ride home was silent as Souta's quiet breathing and her moms soft snores were heard. Kagome started dozing off the last thing she seen was her dad smiling at her through the rear view mirror.
She smiled and said "thank you for coming daddy I love you" before she dozed off.
"Your welcome my beautiful little wahine" he said. As he focused his eyes back on the road.
Everyone was fast asleep as he made the long trek home from Laie to Waikiki awake by himself. He started thinking about his life's most recent happenings.
*I need to change my ways, this is not who I want to be* he thought sadly remembering the not so happy moments he and his wife had been having in the recent past months.
We're almost home he sighed happily. He came to a red light looking towards the Waikiki beach he saw the beach he always saw kagome and her friends at. He then reached over to his sleeping wife and lovingly caressed her cheek.
"Stephen my love" she whispered unconsciously moving further into his hand.
The action made his eyes fill with tears. *After everything I've done to her and yet she still loves me* he said frowning. *I do not deserve your love my sweet sweet sara* he allowed a tear to fall from his eyes.
He glanced at his 2 kids in the back seat sleeping. kagome's hand in Souta's car seat her finger caught in his little hands. *my world, you all are my world and I am sorry for all that I've done to you* he cried silently, *tomorrow I will change and be the father that my kids need and the husband my wife deserves* he silently promised them.
As soon as the light turned green 3 black vans with cop lights surrounded the truck and guns were drawn. *what the fuc* he said to himself. His family still sleeping he stepped out of the truck with his hands in the air. He walked into the middle of the street. Kagome heard the truck door close. She opened her eyes after a few seconds reality blurred into a clear view. She could see her dad's red T-shirt moving closer toward a circle of men.
*What are they holding she squinted. Guns!??? !! Is that guns!!??* she panicked. She unbuckled her seat belt. Everything seemed to move in slow motion. As soon as the seat belt unfastened keen ears picked up the sound from outside and started shooting at the truck. Sara awoke screaming along with Souta because of the noise. Stephen heard his family's screams and saw the men and screamed.
"NOOOOOO!" He ran in front of the truck.
Time slowed down around Kagome as she heard the first bullet shell hit the pavement. In a second her eyes glowed And suddenly the truck was covered in a gold blanket. She seen her dad run in front of the truck directly In front of the headlights. Her and her mother witnessed him take bullets threw him like a bag of flou, blood splattering all over the window. Kagome's heart broke and her mother wailed. Kagome got out of the truck while her mother tried to get out to grab her but the doors wouldn't budge. Sara continued to scream but it fell upon deaf ears. No sound could be heard from within the golden shield. Kagome's eyes turned blood red. She walked towards her fathers bloody body. She could hear his heartbeat for some odd reason by didn't care how at the moment. She knelt down to him ignoring the shouts from the men in black telling her to put her hands up. She turned her father over and cradled his head and he looked at her and smiled. A bloody broken asking for forgiveness smile.
"I always knew you were an angel my beautiful little wahine". His hand reached up to her face as he caressed her cheek his heart beat slowed and he said "I love you my little wahine I always have, you and your brother are my world."
His breathing started getting harsher as he spit up blood. "Tell your mother I love her......take care of them my little wahine....I'm sorry for all the wrong I've done....I....love.....you....always".
His eyes went cold and so had his body. Kagome let out a loud pained roar that shook the heavens and the entire city of Honolulu. She cried tears of blood she put her father down and kissed his forehead and closed his eyes. Her head hung low as she stood. She took one step and the men in black started firing. She raised a golden bubble over her and the enemies "no one will hear you" she said with an evil smirk. And sure enough no sound left the golden bubble. She continued to walked forward no bullets touched her.
*how is this happening* thought the head man directly in front of kagome.
She looked at him and he caught sight of her red eyes he couldn't look away he tried to turn his head but it wouldn't obey. She smiled a deadly smile. A smile that promised pain and death. She lifted her hands and it glowed gold. Her teeth elongated into fangs her black hair flew above her body and swirled like a crazy storm. She closed her eyes and started floating above the ground. The sky turned black and roared with thunder. A gold haze appeared and started covering the ground. All the men tried to run but couldn't as they stared at her. Her beauty had captured them and they were trapped. The haze began to rise and instantly Kagome opened her glowing blood red eyes.
"DIE" she softly said.
Just as the word left her lips an unseen force caused all the windows on every building around her to shatter. She pushed her hands forward and sent a tidal wave of electricity towards the men shocking them and causing an island wide black out. You could hear the transformers blow up as the city was soon covered in darkness. The lightning played like strobe lights as the men was forced to see the young woman's face covered with blood in between the flashes of light. The gold haze started swirling around the men like a tornado with electricity. Kagome heard the screams of her fathers murderers and smiled. Enjoying the sound of their bodies being sliced up by her death swirl. Her gold haze turned a violent red as the blood of the men colored the once gold tornado bloody red. She floated to the ground and opened her palm as the tornado twirled it's way Into her palm growing smaller in an instance. Her body glowed and her eyes closed and she fell to the pavement. Not knowing what would await her when she woke. She sent a silent prayer to any god that would listen
*Please protect my mom and brother.....I love you daddy* she said in her mind before losing conscience. Not knowing that she sent a blanket of gold to cover her baby brother.
Stephen never knew tomorrow would never come for him. And kagome had soon to find out who and what she was. Leaving behind his wife and two kids Stephen cried in the skies as he saw his beautiful little wahine pass out In the middle of the road. Honolulu was awakened by the sirens as they made their way to the scene downtown. Sara was crying in the truck shaken up by what she just witnessed. She didn't even notice that Souta was fast asleep, and that a shield of shimmering gold covered him with love.
*Dear god please let my baby girl be alive* she prayed.
The ambulance and cops pulled up to the scene as soon as the EMT's came out and saw the scene before them they both turned and hurled. There were bodies sliced and butchered strewn all over the road. In the middle of it all they saw a young woman laying there sizzling?
"Holy shit brah is she smoking!???" One Cop yelled.
They ran over to her, guns drawn trying to ignore the slop like noises their boots made as they walked through the carnage. Sara still trying to get out the truck finally got the door to open and started screaming.
"DONT SHOOT!" She yelled crying and running towards them.
"That's my daughter!" She dropped down and tried to touch kagome but singed her hand. She cried as she saw the bloody tear trails that led down her baby girls face. *not again* Sara sobbed as the memories of Kagome's bloody year stained face from elementary flashed in her mind.
"Ma'am we're gonnah need you to come with us" one of the police men said. She turned to him and he held open his arms knowing that she needed someone to hold her.
"My baby boy is in the truck sleeping......please he needs to be with me" she pleaded looking into the officers eyes. The officer nodded sending one of the rookies to the truck to grab the baby. Sara looked down at Kagome "come back to me baby" she cried as she buried her face into the officers chest again.
"You two take her to the hospital" the officer said to the EMT's.
With a nod they did as instructed and the officer left the scene with Sara and and her still sleeping son. While the other cops taped off the block. Life would never be the same for the Higurashi family. And Kagome had no idea what she was in for.....
