“We are taking him to the doctor.”

“No, he's just—”

“WE ARE TAKING HIM TO THE DOCTOR!”

Kagome glared at her mate, her son Sekiko held in her arms. Sesshomaru met her gaze with one of his own. He thought that his son should be able to get through his first sickness on his own. Kagome did not concur.

She stated calmly, “Sesshomaru, he is a hanyou, and we need to take her to the doctor.”

“Just because he is hanyou doesn't mean he isn't strong,” Sesshomaru argued.

“But we've waited a week, and he isn't going to be able to fight this on his own.” Then, as if to prove her point, Sekiko erupted into a fit of coughing, the sound grating and deep.

“Hn,” Sesshomaru let out, in his own way giving in. He would never state his submission directly.

Kagome smiled brightly, squeezing her silver haired son closer to herself. He squeaked and started coughing again, making his mother frown in worry. “Get the car, Sesshomaru.”

He padded away, grumbling about being told what to do, allowing Kagome to set Sekiko down on the couch. She went into the kitchen, grabbed a cup of coffee, and sighed in relief. “Caffeine is a universal stress reliever.”

“I agree,” Sesshomaru mumbled, coming back into the kitchen to grab a steaming cup himself.

She smiled at him before taking Sekiko's hand. “We're going to the doctor, okay?”

“Yes,” Sekiko answered simply, letting himself be led into the garage. Sesshomaru was already in the car, starting it up. Kagome laughed quietly at him before putting her son into the backseat.

“MOTHER!”

“Of course,” Kagome whispered under her breath. She turned on her heel, her daughter behind her. Kagome's other daughter—human and adopted—stood near her sister's legs. The small girl yawned sleepily. “Yes, Taki?”

“Where're you going?” asked Taki, the teenager's ears perking as she waited for an answer.

“We're taking Sekiko to the doctor,” Kagome breathed tiredly.

“I wanna go too!” Rin exclaimed, the small child running and tackling her mother. “I wanna go too!”

“Alright,” Kagome said. “Get in the car, you two.”

Taki and Rin piled in on either side of Sekiko, the small half-demon glancing at them warily.

“I have such a headache,” Sesshomaru complained, pulling out of the driveway.

Taki leaned forward and put her dubstep CD in, turning it up as loud as it went.

Sesshomaru groaned. “That's not helping.”

“Of course it is, Father!” Taki threw her arms into the air, giggling happily. “Music makes everything better.”

“Not this music,” Sesshomaru corrected.

“STOP ARGUING!” Kagome ordered, turning in her seat and pushing Taki back. “Did you forget that Sekiko's sick?”

“Yeah!” Rin shouted. “You guys are meanies!” She then hugged her brother tightly, causing him to start coughing again.

“Let go of Sekiko, Rin,” Kagome demanded, watching as the small boy turned a slight shade of blue.

Rin did as told, but then burst out crying.

“I'm telling you,” Taki went on, “that music is a cure for all.”

“Not now, Taki.” Sesshomaru began to rub his pounding head.

“Rin, please stop crying!” Kagome begged, her eyes wide and her hands held up in surrender.

“I can't,” blubbered Rin.

Sekiko looked from person to person before going into another coughing fit.

“I LOVE THIS SONG!” Taki screamed.

Sesshomaru listened carefully. “It's just a bunch of random sounds thrown together.”

“That's what makes it awesome,” Taki pointed out.

“I didn't want to hurt him,” Rin sobbed.

“He's fine,” Kagome assured, looking to her only son for help.

“I'm okay,” Sekiko told Rin, smiling at his human sister comfortingly.

Taki began dancing, kicking her mother's seat on accident.

“Taki!” screeched Kagome. “Stop it now!”

“You're so uptight,” Taki scoffed.

Kagome let out a growl-like sound, huffing and ignoring her eldest child.

“We're finally here.”

“Yay!” Rin cheered, her tears drying as she leapt out of the car happily, dragging Sekiko behind her. Kagome stared on in confusion.

“No! My music!” Taki cried as Sesshomaru turned off the car, the song stopping half way through. She followed the others dejectedly as they walked into the doctor's office. Taki jumped as the bell attached to the door rang, then blushed when she realized she'd overreacted.

“Hello!” the receptionist greeted.

“Hello,” Sesshomaru spit, surprising the lady with his terrible attitude. He was irritated because of the mass chaos in the car, but Kagome glared at him, finding that no reason to be unkind to an innocent stranger.

The receptionist took one look as Sekiko coughed so hard he almost fell over, then said sourly, “Follow me.”

The family stumbled after her, Taki still going on about how more people should appreciate music and how she though it had the ability to cure cancer.

“I can assure you that music does not cure cancer,” Sesshomaru informed his daughter.

Taki opened her mouth, but before she could say anything Sesshomaru continued, “Or AIDS.”

The girl unintelligibly cursed her father for making her sound like an idiot, sitting down in a chair when they reached the room the doctor would meet them in.

The doctor wasted no time, barging into the room with a loud thud. “Hello!” The doctor had long black hair pulled into a high ponytail, his brown eyes limpid and cheerful.

“Hi!” Kagome welcomed.

“So what's the problem?” the doctor asked, plopping down into a chair much like Taki did and leaning forward.

Kagome went to answer, but Sekiko let out a long and loud cough.

“Hm.” The doctor moved forward, prodding and poking before finally standing back with his eyes closed, a conquering expression set on his face. “I know what's wrong with him.”

“You do!” Kagome exclaimed.

“Yup. He has kennel cough,” the doctor informed them.

Taki burst out laughing, Rin and Sekiko didn't know what to do because they were so confused, Sesshomaru stared blankly, and Kagome looked on in disbelief. “Are you serious?”

“Completely. Here's the prescription.” He handed them a piece of paper with the name of the needed medication written on it. Kagome took it, nodding in thanks. She then left the room, the rest of her family not far behind her.

“Why didn't you tell me dog demons got kennel cough?” Kagome glared at her husband out of the corner of her eye.

Sesshomaru shrugged lightly. “I didn't think there would be a reason to.”

“The car!” Rin shrieked joyously, hugging the grey vehicle.

“Oh, great.”

Another ride in the car with the Taisho family. Who wouldn't want to partake in that?
