The crisp, chiming notes of the music box echoed threw the large empty home. The echoes of children's laughter and the pitter patter of running feet haunted the once luxurious abode. Their arguing voices were still able to be heard even now.

A flash of silver

A shine of ebony

A soundless bang...

And twin screams.

'mama!' the voices echo 'Mama!' they call again as two little shadowy figures make their way towards the parlor 'MAMA!' they scream upon entering. Their voices are faded and muffled like a fading memory from long ago, one can barely make out the small shadows.

A dark haired little girl of eight years stands there, clutching the shirt of her red-haired brother of 10 years. The two look up, the boy shadow pushes his little sister behind him backing up.

"You MURDERER!" his little voice shaking as he looks to the larger more malicious shadow that looms over the small little things before it. With a wicked grin the larger thing spins something in his hand and reaches for the two with his other.

"S-Stay away!' the little girl's voice echos her tone shaky and afraid as she clutches her brother's shirt tighter in her tiny hand "W-Why? How could you? Mama cared for you, WE all cared for you...h-how could you?"

The looming figure laughs soundlessly and with an effortless - aswell as powerful - delivers a skull and neck breaking blow to the side of the boy's face. His small shadowy body slams into the nearby wall without a sound, he crumples 'Rin...Run..' he breaths his last before vanishing.

Screaming in fear the small girl, now identified as Rin, runs for her very life. Alas, she does not make it far for the flash of silver appears again and a single, soundless, shot of the memory is felt. Body lurching, the small child falls to the ground, mouth open in a scream that never reached past her lips. Like her sibling, she too vanishes from site, never seen and never heard again.

And there in lies the problem.

All of these events can not be seen, what was whitnessed can only be thought of, heard, within the mind's eye it can be envisioned, but its only truly experienced in the big empty home. Where the voices of children from long ago echo hauntingly threw the humble abode. Where the music box still sits, untouched, playing its little melody for no one to hear.

No one but the miserable spirits that linger here. The harm of their betrayal can be felt throughout the home. The events of their lives - up until their brutal deaths - replay over and over and over again.

Just like the little music box up on the shelf.

-------------------

I've decided to leave this story rather vague. I'll let you be the judges of what happened, who was killed and who did the killing.

Wow, this is a lot shorter then I had imagined...

Maybe I'll continue this on a later date, I have to admit it isn't as chilling as I wanted it to be but its about 1:30 in the morning so I'll probably edit this some other time lol.
