Rest assured, I didn't think you were flaming me at all. Criticising, yes, but criticism is not a bad thing in itself.

And after the very negative response I received to the chapter - namely, the reader pretty much telling me s/he would never read anything written by me again - nothing has really surprised me anymore. I was expecting people to be upset and not understand why I did it. I guess I was also expecting some would give up on this story completely, not liking the direction it was going to - but honestly, I was not expecting anyone giving up on me. So that stung a bit. ^^;

And besides, you bothered to log in, giving me the chance to respond to your review. That in itself is awesome! Most of the harsher words I've been told have been in anonymous comments. Wusses. -rolls her eyes-

Thank you for reviewing Chain.

You are right that I never explained just how giving up the child would be in the best interests of the child himself. That is because I am going to explain these things in the story itself, in the chapters to come. Sure, it currently appears she gave their son away for Sesshoumaru's freedom. But this is Kagome we are talking about, and she would not have made such a decision on selfish grounds.

Kagome gave up their son, because she wanted him to have a happy life. Sure, he won't know the love of his parents, but that does not mean he will be alone or unloved. Had Kagome and Sesshoumaru stayed, the life in the palace would have eventually crumbled them. They would have been unhappy with their life in the castle. They would have grown bitter and cursed the Fates. And Kagome did not think her son could grow up to be happy with such miserable parents.

I don't really have time right now to write a whole essay, and I think it would be pointless too, as I probably wouldn't be able to coax you to understand in any case.

Still, I thank you for expressing your opinion. I'm also very glad to hear that you still trust me to give the story a fitting ending, I hope I will not betray your expectations.

Thank you for reading and reviewing Stealing Heaven!

To be fair there was actually a lot going through Kagome's mind leading up to that whole mess.... The demon's power just has a way of throwing a wrench into the works. Lust demons, what're ya gonna do?
